2018 UK Tour

UK Tour – May 15-24, 2018

The William & Mary Wind Ensemble recently returned from an exciting 10-day tour of the UK.  The group performed at the High School of Dundee (Scotland), the National Centre for Early Music (York), and St. George’s Church, Bloomsbury (London).  In Scotland, the group visited Edinburgh Castle, Loch Lomond, and St. Andrews University and Cathedral.  While traveling south into England, the group spent time at Alnwick Castle where several of the Harry Potter movies were filmed.  In York, students walked the Medieval walls surrounding the city and toured York Minster.  The final leg of the tour included visits to the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey and a cruise on the Thames.  The group also attended a concert by the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Thomas Adès, and participated in a workshop with Adam Gorb, Head of Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music.  Gorb’s Summer Dances was one of the pieces performed on the tour.  The Wind Ensemble wishes to thank the offices of the Provost and Dean of Arts & Sciences, the Center for the Liberal Arts, the Reves Center, and our individual donors for making this trip possible.  Read more about the Wind Ensemble’s trip in the W&M News.
