Participation in the Wind Ensemble requires an audition at the start of either the Fall or Spring semesters. All William & Mary students are eligible to audition at the start of the Fall Semester, and once accepted, will be able to register for their respective ensemble(s) on Banner. Sign-ups for audition times are currently available on the bulletin board outside of the rehearsal hall, Ewell 207.

2013-14 Auditions will be held Monday, August 26th through Friday, August 30th in Ewell 210. Additional audition times with Dr. Bhasin are available during the first week of school upon request.

At your audition, come prepared to perform:

1.        a prepared piece 5 minutes in duration (or excerpts from two separate pieces) demonstrating contrasting styles (lyrical and technical)

2.        excerpts for your instrument posted below (be prepared to perform the music within the red brackets on each page of music)

Chamber Winds Auditions

Students auditioning for the Wind Ensemble who wish to participate in a rich chamber music experience are invited to join the Chamber Winds. This performing ensemble is open to select Wind Ensemble musicians and rehearses on select Fridays from 4:00pm – 5:00pm. The Chamber Winds’ repertoire focuses on ensemble music written for fewer than 15 players — including the great chamber works of Strauss, Dvořák, Stravinsky, Mozart, and others.

At the end of the audition period, students will be notified of audition results by email.
